The F70 got a bit of a tough time from reviewers when it was launched - ironically because the user-interface was ahead of its time. |
| All functions are selected by using a mix of a thumbwheel and button to select the function you want to control, and the setting you want within that function:
This is, of course, an approach which will feel second-nature to anyone used to a modern DSLR - but at the time, it was a step too far for reviewers used to having separate physical controls for each function. The F70 doesn't see much action now - its backup role has now been taken by the D70. But it does get the occasional outing. On a business trip to Sao Paolo, where I was firmly advised not to take a camera, the F70 and a cheap Sigma lens were sufficiently close to disposable that I felt comfortable risking them. I would have missed a lot of photo opportunities had I not taken a camera.
